pre football dinner

I'm eating Nic's fine Penne Arrabiata prior to going out to watch Liverpool vs Chelsea. We'll be rooting for the reds, but quietly cos we'll be in Putney.

Much recording was done today, working on a new song by James. Quite a haunting number, with a true James Fortune lyrical twist at the end. We've got quite a diverse bunch of songs for the album. It is ever thus as we have three very distinctive songwriters. However, the production will hold the whole thing together, and the range of the songs should make the album a 'journey' as our producer Jon suggests.

Tomorrow we're off to meet the production team behind our Edinburgh show. It'll be interesting to hear their ideas - we've certainly got big plans.

Welcome Nic

Call it something trendy like a blog, and they all want to contribute! Long may it last.

Ahh Michael

Ahhh Michael. Forever wanting somewhere for the world to read your thoughts!!! And now the magnets has it's very own blog space.

Actually to correct you, I'm not going into the studio today, I'm going tomorrow, so ner.

The work in the studio is going very well -- just a few more weeks to a finished album and then we're done and album 3 is in the bag.

After that all thoughts turn to Edinburgh and the new show for this year. More details will be published soon....

That's it for the moment. Blog over. Goodnight. I'm here all week. Thank you.

Where are we at?

I'm at home in Altrincham, having just finished making this blog and linking it to The Magnets website via my first foray into Frontpage - scary! Andy and James are at the studio off the Walworth Road working on the new album, and Nic and Steve will be there later. I'm in London tomorrow to join them. They are working on a new version of Another Place, the fifth track we've recorded so far with our producer and old mate Jon Rosheuvel. Colin, as far as I'm aware, is back home having been in the studio yesterday, laying down the low notes.

The recording is our main focus at the minute, although we're in Henley on Saturday night for a corporate gig. It's good to be off the road for a while, and have a chance to be creative for a change. It'll be so refreshing to have some new songs in the set. Although that usually means that fans then complain that all their favourite old tunes are missing!

This is where we'll be posting irregular musings about life in and around The Magnets.
