Berlin VP Pics

It looks like Mikey beat me to it but I thought I'd add a couple of my own thoughts about the Berlin Vox Pop experience.

I think we'd be very able to say that the Berlin run exceeded everyone's expectations. Initially we were worried about attendance numbers but in the end the attendances were fantastic. 1000's came out to see the show and we loved playing in the Schiller Theatre.

Kudos definitely should go to the publicity team at Semmel and Backrow who did the most fantastic job in promoting the show. There were posters all over Berlin, including this one from the underground.

It was very exciting to travel on the busses and U-bahn's of Berlin and see our posters everywhere...and we mean everywhere!

Thank you to everyone too at the Schiller who were great to work with.

Now to three weeks of serious relaxing and catching up with friends who thought we all moved to Abu Dabi or places further afield...yes we do still exist!!

I leave with a picture of the band just after a show...and yes we are all wearing our makeup still...we kind of liked it!

Much enjoyed your show (apart from the laboured heavymetal start..). But I do wish you had spared your voices a little more for those of us hearing you at the end of the Berlin run (Saturday evening, in our case)

You do realise that your VoxPop posters were the opposite of cool or sophistication, and one look into the audience probably revealed to you that the audience self-selected accordingly. Is this really how you want to position yourself? I had to do a lot of persuading to get someone to watch the show with me.

You are such gifted musicians, but it felt like you were throwing "Perlen vor die Saeue". If you target the younger more international crowd, they will even understand your jokes in English...:-)

Dear A,

Thanks for the comments about the poster and the audience.

Sadly The Magnets don't have much say in the publicity pictures and often have to cowtow to producers who say they know "best"...hmmmm.

For the next run hope to have different posters which reflect more of what you get in the show.

As for the voices, it wasn't a matter of saving them, more a matter of three of the cast having bronchitis. Nothing we can do about that I'm afraid. It was the first time we've suffered in 7 years of touring and just one of those things.

And maybe if you add your address when you make critical comments we can enter into proper dialogue..:-)

Dear A.

Yes, some of them were ill, we also can hear it...most of all it was James, I think..
I know, that normaly he has a wonderful wonderful and strong voice (We saw the show 2 times in Hamburg before).

But I also think - don´t know why - but the sound wasn´t good. We were sitting in the second range and when Derek and Nic sing "50 Ways to leave your lover", it was really difficult to understand Nic :(

But I´m sure, next time you don´t have to persuading such long time somebody to come with you ;), because they are great!

Greetings,
Nica :o)
